A Gorgeous Christmas Mantel in Turquoise, White and Silver by Fabulous K

When Kelly participated in our Patio Style Challenge this past spring, she wowed us with her colorful, casual outdoor living space. We knew she had to participate in our festive Holiday Edition, and we were thrilled when she accepted the challenge! Take a look at how she managed to mix and match various textures and finishes to create a gorgeous Christmas mantel.

When I start thinking about holiday decor, two things come to mind:  sparkle and a pop of color. I love to use unexpected color to add a modern twist to classic elements like a wreath and garland.

This year, I’m using a palette of turquoise, silver and white; pairing Martha Stewart Living ornaments with a collection of mercury glass bottles, vases and votive candles.

One of my holiday decorating tricks is to mix and match textures and finishes. I’ve used a variety of matte, glitter, shiny, and patterned ornaments to create interest, and added faux fur to quilted velvet stockings I found at The Home Depot.

I also love adding candlelight whenever possible; it’s the perfect addition to holiday lights. The mercury glass votives reflect and enhance the light on the wreath and garland, creating a warm cozy glow for cold winter nights.

I really love how the Christmas mantle decor turned out and look forward to enjoying the sparkle and lights though out the holiday season.  Happy Holidays!
