Normally, holidays involve spending money. But it’s time for a holiday that’s all about saving money. It’s the Sales Tax Holiday!

This weekend, Aug. 11 and 12, 2012, Massachusetts residents get to celebrate with sales tax exemption on personal property that costs less than $2,500.

These tax holidays are often set to run during the heart of the back-to-school shopping season, making it ideal for those in the market for school supplies and back-to-campus items. But, as we all know, the more expensive the item, the higher the sales tax. So this is also a perfect time to purchase bigger-ticket items like appliances, furniture, windows or outdoor power equipment. In addition to the sales tax savings, The Home Depot is stacking up more great offers for you on Aug. 11 and 12, 2012:

  • Save 5 percent off all appliances when using The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card in stores
  • On Saturday, a free Tile Workshop to give you a jump on your next kitchen or bath update
  • A 12-month no-interest regional credit offer for purchases of $299 or more
  • Special savings on items to ready for winter

Wanted to take advantage of tax free weekend, but of course there were no heating pellets in stock. This is so typical of the store in Pittsfield, MA. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone there and not found what I wanted in stock.
