In our Style Challenge series, we ask some of our favorite bloggers from around the web to surprise us with their ideas for creating a stylish and functional space using Home Depot products as a starting point.
Chassity Evans is an oh-so-stylish lifestyle blogger who lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and pens the blog Look Linger Love. We knew from the start that she would make the perfect addition to our Holiday Style Challenge because of her fabulous taste, and we were thrilled when she agreed to share her holiday decorating ideas for the front door with us. We love the way she styled her chic and casual Charleston home — and endured puzzled looks from her neighbors!
The Home Depot knocked on the right door when they invited me to participate in their holiday style challenge. I’m a self-confessed holiday junkie, and Christmas is at the tippy top of the list for me.

And you could say that my kids were excited to see Christmas come a little early around here.

But I wasn’t so sure that my neighborhood would be all that excited to see their new neighbors decorating in October (we’re new to the neighborhood, and my decorating task was the front door!). So I made a couple of signs. These got a lot of laughs and shouts from people walking by.

We have a mint front door that I wanted to let be the feature. So I didn’t add a lot of extra color and just stuck with a lot of greenery. But I did use these great Martha Stewart ornament packs to make our topiaries festive.

And I also used those ornaments to add a little bit of shimmer and color to our wreath. To do this I just hung the wreath to the door with a ribbon, and then added strands of ribbon of different lengths to hang down over the middle of it. Then I just hooked on the ornaments. Very easy, but effective.

My kids definitely liked the Maestro Mouse Lights and Sounds Ornament the best (I might have too). It plays 12 songs and does a musical light show. We were rocking out to the songs.

We’re looking forward to enjoying the holidays this year with our family and friends. A festive and welcoming front door is a great way to greet guests (with perhaps a holiday drink upon arrival). Happy Holidays!

P.S. I am married, but my husband was taking the pictures (thanks, Josh)! I had such a great time working on this project with Home Depot.
