I have been buying plants for years now and the most frustrating part about buying a plant is not knowing all of the details you need to know when you there in the garden center.  No matter how versed you are in plants and gardening, we all have questions like how much sun does the plant need?  How big does the plant get?  And so many more necessary questions to ask.

Without the right answers to all of those questions, it’s difficult to be successful with your new plants in your garden.

That’s why reading the plant’s tag is so important.  The Home Depot has always done a good job of putting the most important information on the plant tags in our garden centers now for years.  However, a plant tag is after tiny and it’s difficult to get all of the information that you need to know on it.

Well now, The Home Depot is changing all of that.  I am very proud to introduce you to The Home Depot’s all new, interactive plant tags.   Yes, interactive!  You can get the basic information that you need on the plant tag as always, but now you can scan the QR or 2D code (the funny looking black and white checked square on the front of the tag) with your smartphone and get even more in-depth information about the plants that you want to take home.

It’s so easy to use this great new way, many smartphones now come preloaded with QR Code scanners, but if you don’t have one, simply go to www.homedepot.com/scan to download one for free.  Once you have your QR scanner downloaded, simply open the app and scan the code on the plant tag of the plants that you are looking at to find out more information specific to that plant.

Now you can shop for your new plants with the confidence of knowing and learning exactly what you need to be successful in your garden!

Happy planting!

I don’t have a smartphone to scan your tag. Wish I could, type in your plant code to find out what my plant is and how to care for it. Tag is THD84064.
The tag showed Perennial that was all and it had two plants in the planter.

Hi, Nancy. I found a link to the perennials that Home Depot sells that I hope will help you. It’s not exactly the same info you’d get from scanning the tag, but you can use this list to look up most plants sold by Home Depot and find growing directions. You can search by bloom color, how much sun it takes, vendor, and other options. Customers from around the country have also posted reviews on how some of the plants grew for them. Good luck with your new plants! Lynn, Home Depot Garden Club
