I think my garage sometimes gets more use than most of the other rooms in my home, especially this time of year. It‘s where my gardening tools, equipment and other tools are. It also houses the cars, the riding mower and of course, everything else that doesn’t seem to have a proper place inside the house. In order to keep all of that straight and still make it organized is no easy feat. The key is to maximize your garage space the best ways you can.
In order to take full advantage of all the space your garage has to offer, imposing some structure and organization can go a long way toward reducing some of the clutter and creating a little extra room for all your favorite pursuits. Installing cabinets, workbenches, shelves, hooks, baskets, toolboxes and more, you’ll be able to stow everything away in a spot that is both out of the way yet conveniently accessible. Keep the following questions in mind as you work to turn your garage into more than just another place to dump your stuff:
- What items do you want to store in your garage?
- How can cabinets and shelving units be used for storage?
- What types of workbenches are available?
- What other storage devices can you use for organization?
- Are there any special features that are important to you?
I pulled this great article on garage organization and storage to help you figure out the answers to these questions and to get started on getting the most out of your garage.
Bonus Tip: Here are some great garage cabinet and storage ideas.

As many times as I have been in garages to do garage door repair or to replace garage doors I have never seen anything so cool as this.
I wish!
I know that an organized closets seems far fetched sometimes (especially in my house), but these systems are easier to install than ever and the prices are very affordable. You can always try a few small organization tactics to get things started before you go full tilt. Thanks for the comment Mim!
