Stylish, functional patio furniture is a must for entertaining and relaxing outdoors. And while there are a plethora of offerings for outdoor dining and seating sets, patio chairs, tables, benches and more, you may get more enjoyment from building a unique piece yourself.
Here’s a short video featuring popular DIY blogger Ana White and Home Depot associate Wendy that will show you how to build an outdoor coffee table for your patio, porch or wherever you need a place to put your feet up, or set things down.
The table is easy to build, as you will see in the video, but you will need to have a few basic tools and materials on hand. In addition to boards, wood screws and wood glue, you’ll also need a few power tools, including a circular saw, a drill, and perhaps a cordless nailer. Don’t worry if you don’t own some of the tools on this list. Your local Home Depot Tool Rental Center will be happy to let you use ours for a few hours.
Download the printable instructions for this outdoor coffee table when you’re ready to get started, and don’t be shy about emailing us photos of your awesome new outdoor coffee table when you’re done.

It’s the outdoor season again and The Home Depot has an exciting lineup of new patio furniture collections designed to bring more comfort and style to your outdoor living space. So, if you’ve been thinking about replacing an old or worn patio set, or you’re considering a new one, now is the time.
In this short video, Home Depot associates Stacey and Jennifer will show you some of the features and innovations of our new patio collections for 2013. This year’s collection includes a diverse and stylish array of dining sets and seating sets, ranging from the traditional look of the Fall River, Edington and Westbury collections, to the Barnsley, Woodbury and Madison sets that have a more contemporary appeal.
Each of the collections is available in multiple configurations, allowing you to combine dining and seating sets with chaise lounges, accent tables, ottomans, umbrellas, firepits and more to create a coordinated look tailored to your outdoor lifestyle.
Even if you have an outdoor space that is on the small side, there’s no reason you can’t turn it into a functional space to enjoy some sun or shade. A petite patio set is the way to go. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite small space patio sets. Which one would work best for you?
The Hampton Bay Summerville Patio Balcony Set in yellow has a nostalgic feel, and its compact scale will give purpose to the smallest of balconies. We love the bright pop of color used in the yellow vinyl-strap chair!
Last week, we brought you five different styles of outdoor dining patio sets, and this week, we thought we would offer up different styles of outdoor seating! Which one is your favorite?
The Hampton Bay Edington 4-Piece Seating Set features a black metal frame that echoes traditional patio sets that were made out of cast iron. We love the way the scrollwork on the chair backs feels like the ironwork you might find in an old Southern city, like New Orleans or Charleston.
This charming DIY vertical garden is so easy to make, and it will make your patio look beautiful. It’s perfect for a small patio, if you live in an apartment or a condo, but it will dress up a bare corner on any size patio or deck.

When the weather is just perfect, don’t we all have a visceral need to be outside soaking up that perfection? And on those perfect evenings, no matter how often they come along in your city, wouldn’t it be lovely to take them in while dining alfresco? We’ve rounded up five of our best outdoor dining sets in different styles, from traditional to modern.
The black steel frame and lattice-style backrest of the Hampton Bay Fall River Dining Set is a traditional design that echoes the cast-iron outdoor furniture that has been used for years. The dragon fruit cushions bring a pop of color to this classic patio set.
Planning on hosting lots of backyard get-togethers this spring and summer? When it comes to outdoor entertaining, a few fun extras can take your backyard barbecue to the next level.
If you live in a part of the country where it can get chilly once the sun goes down, a fire pit is an outdoor entertaining essential. We love the rustic, wooden edges of the UniFlame Square Slate Tile and Faux Wood Gas Fire Pit. Pull a couple of comfy chairs up to this guy and enjoy its warm glow.
As the weather turns warmer, many of you may be thinking about outdoor spaces in need of completely new or updated patio furniture.
If you have already been actively shopping, you know there are many things to consider. Color, style and comfort are the things most of us tend to focus on immediately. But what about the amount of exposure to the elements your patio furniture will endure year after year? Or, how will you actually use your outdoor furnishings? And what about the size of your outdoor living space? Will that 5-piece seating set you covet really work on your apartment balcony?
For help with these questions and others you may not have considered, we asked Home Depot associate Mike for his advice. This short video covers everything from the different types of material used in making patio furniture to the many ways you can tailor your outdoor space to suit your personal style.
You’ll also see the latest in full outdoor dining and seating sets, smaller bistro sets, chaise lounges, outdoor chairs and tables and more. Plus, there are plenty of tips for enhancing the look and functionality of your outdoor living areas with accessories like outdoor cushions and pillows, umbrellas, and deck boxes for storage.
Whether your goal is to create a space for a quiet retreat or to design an outdoor room for dining and entertaining, after this video you’ll feel better informed and ready to live a better life outdoors.
The Cedar Breeze is what we think of as your basic pergola. It comes unpainted, notched, pre-cut, pre-drilled and ready to assemble in a day’s time. Paired with an all-weather wicker seating set and surrounded by plants and flowers, it transforms an ordinary patio into an extraordinary outdoor room perfect for a gathering of friends and family.
An architectural structure that can be traced back as far as ancient Egypt, the pergola later became a common feature of Italian Renaissance gardens, often covering walkways or serving as grape arbors. Today, the same design can be used in your landscape to define a passageway, frame a focal point in your yard, or create the illusion of shelter without the feeling of being confined.
Options for pergolas abound. You won’t have difficulty finding one to match your intended use or desired look. You might, however, be surprised by the many different ways people are using pergolas not only to enhance their outdoor living spaces but also the look and feel of their home.
Take a look for yourself.
