My husband is deployed right now, and I am in the beginning processes of turning one of our bedrooms into his man cave. I want to do a sports theme, and he loves the Miami Heat. Any suggestions on this? I am working within a budget, and I’d like to keep the room as “clean” as possible since it is a rather small room.
Any help would be appreciated! Can’t wait to get started on his surprise!

That’s a great idea. I would get some pictures framed. Also, if you contact the Miami Heat PR department and let them know the situation, you may even be able to get an autographed team photo. Fatheads are $99. Those are life-sized fgures that stick on the wall. If you plan a bar, ask somebody who knows how to make one to do that. However, for the bartop, get some Heat logos or individual photos and have them put them on the bar top. They can put the stickers on the top and then put polyurothane over it. These are a few ideas. I hope they help.

Yes, the examples here are all flat finish.
Is flat best for a man cave?
Depends on how messy the cave dweller is. Typically flat finishes are the hardest to clean, so if there’s a chance the caveman wants to wipe down his walls, he should use either satin or semi gloss. It also depends on the texture of the walls — a flat paint will camouflage a very uneven wall surface, whereas a semigloss paint will accentuate the unevenness.

I am going to do my basement man cave in LAA Angels Baseball colors. I love the red, but am not sure that all Angel red will be a good idea, Can you help me out??

So glad you asked this question. I can definitely see how you would be concerned with going overboard on the red! I think you have three options:
1. Go with the Angels red on the walls, and use plenty of neutral furniture pieces throughout the rest of the space. Maybe a few dashes of navy blue here and there, just to really establish the Angels color palette. In this scenario, I would probably limit the Angels paraphernalia if possible because the red will be a statement!
2. Go with the Angels red on one accent wall. This would be a perfect for the wall behind your couch, or even the wall that has your TV! In this scenario, I definitely think you could include some awesome Angels items like maybe an area rug? Or a poster or two?
3. Choose something a bit more subtle for the wall color, that would make any Angels memorabilia you have (like posters, collections, etc) stand out. I can definitely see an awesome man cave that has white walls, which would really make a collection of signed baseballs or a huge sports photograph really stand out! A light gray or light tan would work too.

Hi Darren, I have two of the four walls in my basement bedroom that are concrete. Do these same colors come in a concrete paint as well? If not, what would you recommend I do with these two walls?
Scott, Unfortunately concrete paint can’t be color matched. I am working on some options for you, I will reply again in a day or two with some options that will work for your situation. In the meantime, do you have pic of your room or can you share a description of the room?
