The Dilley family of Clearfield, Utah will be making some much needed repairs on their home now that they are winners of The Home Depot’s Give the Gift of Good contest.

Tyrena Dilley in the spotlight after winning the Home Depot Give the Gift of Giving contest

A group of Home Depot associates was on hand this week at store #4413 in Salt Lake City, Utah to present Tyrena Dilley a $20,000 Home Depot gift card. Her husband, Sgt. Kevin Dilley, is currently stationed in Greenland, after deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. He’s next expected home in July.

The family of seven is looking forward to fixing up their 1950s-era home with roofing repair, adding insulation to the attic, and replacing an old, cranky heating and air conditioning system.

The Gift of Giving contest is one way The Home Depot gives back to the community. The contest started when we gave nine home improvement and military bloggers each a $500 Home Depot gift card to purchase holiday decorations for a local military family. We then asked followers of the Home Depot Facebook page (Facebook.com/HomeDepot) to vote on which of these families should receive the $20,000 gift card for home repairs.

Take a look at the photos on Facebook of the Dilley family receiving the award. There’s video, too, on YouTube.

None of the nominated families is walking away empty handed, though. Every family will receive $5,000 worth of Home Depot Home Services to address their most immediate needs . Our local service provider teams will be visiting the families in the coming days to determine how we can help.

We thank everyone who voted in the contest.

Thanks also go out to the bloggers who helped get this contest off the ground. Please take a look at their helpful, entertaining and often very moving blogs:

We are especially grateful to everyone in our U.S. armed forces and their families, who are making huge sacrifices for our country. Thank you.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Its actually great to have contests like these. It often encourages the home makers to beautify their living space and give them a new look. Every human would love to spend their valuable time at home after a hectic work schedule. It has to have the best of looks in terms of art and design. It should have an aesthetic value added to the design. Hearty congratulations to the winners of this contest!
