I had windows installed thru The Home Depot installation services. I went with them because I thought they claimed they screened their installers for quality. I can not express enough how disappointed I was with the whole experience. I got them installed in January 2011. I was promised I would get a permit through the mail which never came. I was also promised that everything was covered in the installation process. The person who measured my windows assured me it was everything including wraps for the outside of the windows. A lie. I contacted the person who sold the windows to me who referred me to the person who did the measurements, who basically told me he never said any such thing,. I have had to contact them twice now for the windows not closing properly, and now after only nine months since the install I have noticed the weatherstripping coming off one of he windows, The windows the sold me are obviously of inferior quality. They should be ashamed of themselves. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Do not let them do your install.

I am a MET associate with the Home Depot, a job I enjoy greatly. Every day I work here I’m more and more impressed with the people I work for and the people I work with. I wanted to say a word about our advertising ethics. These days it’s unusual to see ads that stick to offering value and knowledge. Our biggest competitor takes swipes at us every chance they get and they aren’t even subtle about it. Our ads stick to the point of offering savings to our customers and help from some of the best trained and most knowledgable floor associates in the business. I know that not every customer is happy about their experience here but I will say this, if you give up a chance we will make it our business to satisfy you. I’m proud to wear orange and I believe the folks you meet at any of our stores will feel the same.

    To the President:
I am an area architect working for a large airport that is highly respected and offers much sought after advice and maintains a well read blog. I refered numerous friends, collegues and clients to buy at Home Depot rather than Lowe’s and other retailers. My referal volume is sufficient to have warranted a Manager at the local store assigned to me and my referals to ensure good cuastomer care as they are large spenders. I am also a Home Depot shopper with excellant payment history and what was a low available credit line compared to my high income. I always pay more than the required amounts and my balance reflected my 0% special offers on a appliance package.

I decided to make more available for a project and I sent in a $700 payment to assist in reducing my outstanding balance. To my surprise the day the large amount was received my limit was lowered to a $15 avaialbility for no reason. I have learnt that this is a new policy across the board by the accounting department.
Needless to say, I shall no longer direct the over $200,000 plus per annum business to Home Depot. I shall direct my clients to smaller vendors and Lowe’s. furthermore, as a design and construction professional I wil no longer be able to say that Home Depot has the customer in mind. Tools and patio can be purchased at many sources including Amazon and Sears, lumber and materials at Dixieline, Doors and windows at many local supplier/installers, floring at Lumber Liquidators and other items at a Lowe’s. Has the president of Home Depot’s advisors thought this out? I don’t think so and if they have the negative affect this will be to the goodwill of industry professionals like myself. Shame, shame, on this number game!

I do NOT receommed anyone purchasing carpet or window replacement through Home Depot. I did both and it was an absolute nightmare. The order was incorrect due to the many handoffs internally and outsouced companied and no one would take repsonsibility. Hard to beleive, they even installed the wrong carpet and I cannot even get them to install the carpet i ordered (per the invoice).

    Darren Ryan,
I noticed you deleted my comment about the lack of interest on Home Depot’s
part to rectify their botched up installation of our screen door.

My husband and I cannot say enough about the service we have received over this last week. We purchase a complete master bath fixtures from Home Depot 4years ago They are beautiful. Our hot water to our beautiful shower turned to just cold water. We called your service dept. and worked with the best customer service representative I have ever encountered Gail Glass. She helped us and sent a part that did not work but continued until she had us with knowledgeable person, Manny, who completely answered the problem and he sent us the part that corrected our problem, we now have hot and cold water!!! This is what people want and need especially in these times. You have sold us on your great prices and great service what a company!! Thank you!!!
